Personal Development

INTENT and IMPLEMENTATION

Personal development at Longworth Primary School is both a lesson in the classroom and a school ethos. It is reflected in our school values of Be Kind, Be Respectful, Persevere and Be Curious.

Our aim is for each child to leave Longworth Primary School feeling confident and resilient for the next step in life and for our children to be:

  • Kind and respectful
  • Demonstrate perseverance
  • Are healthy
  • Stay safe (including online)
  • Enjoy and achieve
  • Stay curious
  • Make a positive contribution
  • Achieve economic well-being
  • Are understanding and tolerant of other people and their beliefs and lifestyles

We see and teach the whole child at Longworth Primary School. In partnership with the children’s parents, we model and teach the children life skills.

Longworth Primary School promotes the British Values and our school values.

At Longworth Primary School we have planned (1) a sequential, thematic curriculum and (2) a personal development programme for all our pupils.

The personal development programme has been designed to cover the personal, social, health and emotional lessons in the classroom as well as a range of whole school activities, assemblies and trips out of school to cover the following:

  • Citizenship
  • Development of Character - confidence and resilience
  • Wider Opportunities
  • British Values
  • Inclusion and Equality of Opportunity
  • Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development.
